Hyposis and “Miracles”

Sometimes, hypnosis can result in miracles.

The term “miracle” means different things to different people. In this modern world, some people claim that miracles are impossible since modern science has explained everything. They imagine that belief in miracles could never be based on anything other than wishful thinking or superstition. They are mistaken. For some people, it is more convenient to deny the possibility of anything supernatural than it is to honestly face the existence of evidence that raises uncomfortable questions.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are people who imagine that pure magical thinking can explain every aspect of reality and that they should ignore everything that is rational and never ask intelligent questions. The problem with their overall thought process is that it does not make sense.

There is a third alternative. We can explore all of the available evidence and look at what it actually tells us. In this context, a “miracle” does not need to be seen as something that is purely magical. A miracle is simply an event where conventional materialistic explanations are not enough, and something occurs that modern science is not advanced enough to explain or fully understand. By this definition, miracles happen all of the time. And to explore miracles with this thought process in mind can lead to some fascinating discoveries.

After twenty years as a therapist who employs hypnosis and other healing modalities that involve shifts of consciousness, I have seen cases of what might be called miracles personally. I have also talked to many other therapists who have seen such things themselves. Most of the time, I don’t actually call these incidents “miracles”, since I believe that most people get the wrong idea when such words are used. I believe that all of us have a source of wisdom and inspiration within us, and all that we have to do is learn how to use it. I believe this because I have seen the evidence that confirms it. The only reason that most people believe that miracles are very rare or impossible is that they have not yet learned how to connect with the source of inspiration within them to a great enough degree.

There are so many clearly documented cases of psychic knowledge and paranormal phenomena that no one could list them all. Based on the evidence, it makes perfect sense to conclude that the common factor in all of these cases is that human consciousness shifts in such a way where the mind enters a state of trance and then displays an ability to know or to do things that are beyond ordinary limitations. The information, energy, and knowledge that are associated with psychic phenomena are always there. But the ability to perceive and experience such things depends on an expansion of consciousness.

It is interesting to examine cases where medical conditions that are seemingly physical in nature are revealed to involve something clearly beyond the physical through the expansion of consciousness that is associated with hypnosis.

A friend of mine who is a professional Social Worker took on a client who had Stage Four advanced metastatic cancer. Her medical care team had told her that her cancer was incurable, and that she would soon die. My friend placed her in a state of hypnosis, wanting to see if she could remember something that would help with her condition. To his surprise, she remembered a previous life where she had practiced human sacrifice while she was a member of a native tribe in South America. Following the session, her cancer completely disappeared. It did not return. This was confirmed by medical professionals who were unable to find any trace of cancer in her system. These were the same doctors and clinicians who had previously diagnosed her at Stage 4.

A friend of mine who is a Hypnotherapist saw a client at the request of her son. Her client was in an advanced stage of dementia, and her son hoped that hypnosis might help in some way. While in trance, the client was able to describe a childhood experience in a detailed way that was completely coherent and free from any symptoms of dementia. She was able to communicate without limitations, even though her brain presumably had the physical irregularities that are commonly associated with dementia. After the hypnosis session was over, her dementia returned. Even so, she had been able to experience healthy function in her ability to communicate while in trance.

I worked with a client who had completely lost function in the left side of his body due to a stroke. While in trance, he was able to move both his left arm and left leg, which he had not been able to do in any way for a period of several years. The brain damage that he had presumably suffered due to his stroke did not limit him. After the hypnosis session, he was unable to move his arm and leg in the way that he had while in trance. Even so, his body had been able to work correctly while in trance.

For people who have never seen such things happen, there may be questions as to whether or not they actually happen. For clinicians or people who have seen these things happen firsthand, there is virtually no question that things such as these happen. On the other hand, there are challenges related to fully understanding what happens in cases such as these. There are also challenges in creating these kinds of results with consistency. Although the evidence is clear that miracles occur, it is also clear that they do not occur in every case. It would be unwise to promise dramatic healing results to everyone. Everyone would like to find an instant, universal “cure” for every problem or disease that works every time, and unlock hidden powers and capabilities at will. But the truth is that both healing and finding inspiration can often be a process rather than an instant outcome. And the truth is that there is no process or method that provides guaranteed perfect results to everyone in every case, whether it is a mainstream medical process or hypnosis or any other form of alternative energy healing.

Although there are questions about the nature of hypnosis and other forms of alternative energy healing that have yet to fully be answered, there are some conclusions that can be made based on the evidence that cases such as these present. One conclusion that can be made is that although modern mainstream medical authorities like to say that they understand the causes and the nature of most illnesses, these cases prove that they do not. Modern medical authorities say that cancer is caused by genetic or environmental factors. But if cancer can go into remission in such a way as to disappear in an almost instantaneous way, the real cause may lie in subconscious patterns of thinking and emotion, likely related to guilt or other unresolved psychological issues. Modern medical authorities say that the cause of dementia is the development of plaques in the brain. But the question must be asked why a brain impaired by plaques can somehow still work well while under hypnosis. And if a brain that is compromised by plaques can work well while in trance, it makes sense to conclude that it may well be possible to prevent the cognitive decline associated with dementia by practicing the kind of thought processes associated with trance and mind expansion. In the case of a stroke, it is known that blood clots in the brain lead to the death of certain brain cells, and the death of brain cells leads to the impairment of motor function. It makes sense to conclude that physical brian impairment leads to compromised function. But it is also true that some people can recover function in various parts of the body after a stroke, while some people cannot. The human body has remarkable healing and adaptive capacities. It is a well known fact that the brain can adapt to physical limitations or injuries, and “learn” to use other areas of the brain to perform functions that the damaged areas used to handle. This being the case, it may well be true that the real key to recovering from a stroke may be to access inner healing capacities through mind expansion. There is nothing irrational about examining such ideas. It would be irrational not to examine them.

If we want to know the truth about life and health, we need to explore questions at the level of consciousness and the mind. If we fail to do so, we run the risk of ignoring valuable evidence. If we study cases that involve “miraculous” phenomena correctly, we can move toward a deeper and better understanding of life and health. And there is evidence that this may lead to a future where hypnosis and mind expansion are considered to be an essential aspect of overall healing for anyone who wishes to experience health in a genuine holistic way.
